From Personal Homepage to AJAX Blog
As you see, this is my newly furbished AJAX Blog. I have spent about a month on it yet there are still tons of works ahead of me. Just like I’ve mentioned many times, web development became complex in a “Boom”.
Today, after I finished a large component on my blog, I took a break and start to review some of my latest website design works. From a link of one of them, I was sent to one of my earlier works which in turn has links to the works I’ve done before that time. Then some frozen memories melted, and I recalled the days when I was still learning HTML and CSS by myself. They look very simple and not well polished from today’s point. But I still remember how excited I was each time I came up with a new idea or got to know new tricks.
In those out dated web pages, there are many things I used to adore so much. The songs, the pictures, some short words, and the colors I picked, all reflect what I was like three years ago. Not noticing anything, I have changed so much, and were it not because of my web pages which are miraclely still accessible, who knows when would I ever remember them again.
My first webpage, was created using Frontpage. I was so proud of it and advertised in my Mandarin class. But it’s dead very soon, mainly because no stable hosting was available then. Besides the banner gif image saying Welcome, I can only tell there is a cute cartoon character continously walking on the top left corner. I have absolutely no idea what information did I post as content.
I started doing my second webpage because I wanted to type all my diary entries into the computer. I failed half way simply because there was too many entries to type and school work was intense.
Then my third one, which standed for at least 2 years, has two styles, namely Cool Style and Bright Style. It still has wicked looks but it’s there…
I don’t really remember if there are still any other webpages I created. But I think my fourth webpage was a big step ahead. With a better understanding of Photoshop, I was able to build something rational, having more dedicated graphics.
After this piece of work, I am more and more into web development and kept updating my skills and knowledge. At the meantime, I browsed and learnt from other people’s webpage works.
It’s been 6 and a half years since my first webpage. And now, I am finally able to create complex application like websites.
